I have spent the last several days thinking about what to write for this month’s newsletter. There are many ways that we see God at work and we are encouraged in this. However, this month has had its difficulties. Nothing catastrophic has taken place but so many small difficulties add up to to some frustrating situations. We are also praying to see break through in some areas. While it is not uncommon for each of us to feel discouraged at times today I am especially grateful and thankful for the faithfulness of God, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross that is the assurance of our salvation.
In challenging times like this I am also glad that we have the Psalms as part of the Bible. King David, who was the most unlikely to be chosen as a leader, they didn’t even bother to invite him to come to meet the prophet when God was anointing the next King, is quite transparent about his state of mind and emotional well being. Many of the Psalms start in a place of David being weary, troubled, and under attack. These are some of my favorite scriptures as I can relate, in my own life. It amazes me that even though he was King he was this transparent before the Lord and the people who gathered to worship. Each time as he brought his troubles these Psalms turn towards acknowledging and worshiping the goodness, might and faithfulness of God. David leaves the time of worship and being in the presence of the Lord in a different condition than he came in.
It is humbling to really consider the specific work God has given us to do as the Nebraska Christian Leaders Forum. As we partner together to fulfill the purposes God has given us, many times this requires faith to step out into the unknown. Some times this goes well and sometimes there are real difficulties but one of our team likes to remind us, “God didn’t call us to produce a specific outcome, he called us to be faithful”. Our prayer is that we, who are called by his name, would be faithful, that we would stand on the truth of his word, and that we would be obedient to how he is leading us.
In the remaining weeks of this year he is leading us to make preparations for the coming year. Prayer is the most important part of everything we do. Coming up on the 11th of November we will have a day of training and equipping around prayer. Everyone is welcome. Billie Boatwright will be coming from Oklahoma for a fun and encouraging day together. If you are wanting to see your prayer life grow please join us. Pastors and leaders we would encourage you to come with your ministries prayer leaders as one of the focuses of Billies ministry is developing effective prayer teams. The information for this training is below.
As “Giving Tuesday” is coming up later this month we would be honored if you would consider NECLF as part of your end of year giving plans. As we partner together in prayer, finances and serving together we all receive the blessings of what God is doing across Nebraska.
